Definition: The percent of students attending public schools in Boone County who receive free and reduced lunch.
Rationale: This statistic meets most criteria. These data are used locally, statewide and nationally, when considering the socio-economic level of families in a particular area of the community. The data are helpful in determining the need for additional resources for school and community programs. Students from lower socio-economic levels are at higher risk of being unsuccessful in school.
