Boone County Indicators 2005

Selection Criteria

The following selection criteria were developed by the Boone County Indicators Committee. Indicators were chosen that met most or all of the criteria.

Important/Meaningful: The indicators measure a condition of a target population of interest to community organizations, institutions, or the general public and relate to community wide concerns.
Valid/Reliable: Sound methodology has been used to collect data that is accurate, measurable, accessible, useful for grants and planning purposes, and from a reputable source.
Geographic Comparisons: The data is localized for Boone County and may be compared on a local, state, and national level.
Timely: The data is available and updated on an annual basis. Historical data is available and the data will be collected in the future on a regular basis allowing community trends to be measured.
Facilitates the Establishment and Evaluation of Policy Decisions: The indicators have the ability to influence community decision-makers and may be used to effect change in policy, programs, and funding.
Understandable: The indicators are easy to interpret. Meaningful data is reported that is applicable and communicable to decision-makers and the public.
